Product Battle: Clean & Clear Wipes VS Say Yes to Cucumbers Wipes

I have never been satisfied with a makeup remover wipe until recently. But a You Tube Guru convinced me to change my holy grail wipes to the new Say Yes to Cucumber Wipes. She was raving about them and I liked the packaging so I caved and bought it at CVS. Well, in one word, my review is: FAIL! This is the last time I will change my wipes because after trying every brand of wipes out there, why didn't I stick with my holy grail wipes? The SYTC Wipes are not as soft and moist. And because they don't remove makeup that great, I find myself rubbing my skin hard and pulling in certain areas which is big no no! I have to say the packaging is great and wish my holy grail wipes had this packaging to lock in moisture. Funny thing is, the SYTC wipes don't have much moisture to begin with anyway, so why bother with the great packaging. The smell is nice, obviously it smells like cucumbers. But I will never repurchase these, nor would I recommend them.

Drum roll please....... my HOLY GRAIL makeup remover wipes aaaarrrre Clean & Clear Wipes! Like I mentioned before, I have tried every brand of wipes there is because I was never satisfied, so anytime a new wipe came out, I tried it. So when Clean & Clear came out with their first ever makeup remover wipes, I tried it without any expectations and it was love at first touch. The wipes are extremely moist and soft, and it removes my makeup wonderfully. I don't have to rub hard or pull at my skin. I just softly wiped it past my skin. The smell is not strong at all.... I would say it just smells clean. .... Wow, I didn't even mean that in a pun kind of way, smells clean, like their name, clean & clear lol. Makes sense though. The only downside is the packaging. The little sticker on top that is resealable looses it's stickiness and by the time you get to your last wipes, the seal flaps back which allows air in the package which dries out the last of your wipes. So I started putting it away facing down to keep the flap shut. Oh, and it's oil free, which is a plus for my oily skin!

What are your holy grail wipes? Have you even found it yet?

  1. Unscented baby wipes! They are much cheaper than makeup wipes. If I need a bit of extra power, I add some Thayer's Witch-hazel/aloe-vera astringent.

  2. Ah sadly I have tried that and it did not remove my makeup as good as my clean & clear :/

  3. I agree, baby wipes are not going to take off all of your make-up, but I hear people all of the time say that they use them. I guess it depends on how much make-up you wear and if you still plan to wash your face afterwards.

I'm almost sure I've tried these clean and clear wipes, I just don't remember why I didn't repurchase them. Hmmm. I've heard others talk about SYTC wipes. I'm so glad you reviewed them. Sorry you wasted your $$ though. I'm at the end of the pack of those dreadful Philosophy Purity wipes so I'll try them.

To answer your question, Ponds Original Wipes are my Holy Grail. I specified the Original b/c they made a night time white tea soothing version and the fragrance is waaaaay too strong. It got sickening to me. M.A.C. wipes would be my 2nd choice and Neutrogena wipes my 3rd.

I plan to try the Alcone wipes but whenever I think about them, I usually need wipes right away and don't have time for them to be shipped from an online purchase. Have you tried the Alcone wipes? I hear a lot of people rave about them.

  5. You know, I have tried Pond's many times and I still come back to C&C but doesn't mean it doesn't work. It's funny how people have a way with certain products and love them for their own reasons right? I would like to try the Alcone ones but I feel the same way, if I have to wait on shipping, I'd rather buy it at a store! And @inmyhansonshirt let me know how they work out for you!
