FUNKSHION Fashion Week

*PICTURE HEAVY*
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then you have seen some sneak peak pictures of me working at FUNKSHION Fashion Week in Miami Beach 2011. It happens every year, and this year I was asked to work it by Key Makeup Artist Aileen Quintana. If you didn't already know, the Key makeup artist decides the look with the designer, and then instructs the makeup artists on how to accomplish the look. The Key will also finish off makeup on the models depending if the look is a little complicated and wants to take charge. This year FUNKSHION was on October 19-22. I was only able to take part on the 19th-21st.

My favorite thing about a fashion show is that they get sponsored by makeup companies. Therefore, you only really need to use your makeup brushes, unless there is a product in your kit you just can't do without. Also, you get to try out products you have never used before! The first day was sponsored by Cover Girl and the funny thing is that I have been wanting to try their cream olay foundations since it came out, but never bought it for some reason. Also, we were able to keep any of the makeup. I kept a foundation and concealer for myself because after using it on the models, I was soooo impressed. I should have taken the cream blushes too, don't know why I didn't grab it! The rest of the makeup was donated to a woman's shelter. (I have been using the foundation/concealer a lot now, so I'll do a review in the future.)

Here is one of the sweet models I worked on. She had the best country accent too. The look was very simple. Brown on the lid, mascara, foundation, concealer, light blush, soft contour, and natural lips which were finished off by the Key Makeup Artist.

Check out the hair for the show. A bright yellow blond ponytail dipped in a bright color!

Another model I worked on.

We all had to wear a Cover Girl shirt which I liked. This is Lourdes Stephen, a host on Univision. She was the host of the show that night and I did her complete makeup look. More photos of her below. She was hyper and crazy fun lol.

The second day was sponsored by a cosmetics line called KROMA.

This day was a bit rough because the lighting was horrible and we barely had any space!

Here I am doing makeup on the host for the Red Dress Show, Satcha Pretto, who is another host at Univision. She was so sweet, talking to me the whole time. She really loved how her makeup came out so I was happy about that.

There were two shows that night, and this was the look for the second show. It was a Cleopatra inspired look. Here is me starting on her. I had fun doing the eyebrows. This is model Mikaela from America's Next Top Model.

Here is the completed look. The eyeliner and triangle on the corners were all done by the Key makeup artist Aileen.

This is Steven Tyler's clothing line with Andy Hilfiger. I love Steven Tyler; I am a big Aerosmith fan.

I did makeup on the first two models whose faces you see in the front. Isn't the black model beautiful! I told her how gorgeous she was because I just couldn't keep it to myself.

And this lovely fellow here freaked out when I touched his head, saying DON'T MESS UP MY HAIR! Whoah! Total diva, all I gotta say, lol.

How cool is this building!?

This cutie ran to my chair for help in covering a teeny tiny pimple he had right above his upper lip lol. He had a cute country accent and kept calling me Darling.

Here is Patasha again.

This male model had a lot of redness around his eyes so I corrected that and powdered him and done! He was super sweet, we were talking about our sons the whole time.

This was me on the third day, lots of hard work, exhausted, laying on my son's lap.

  5. Thanks Brianna! It definitely was a great experience. And Meredith, while it looks glamorous, it's not without the ugly, believe me. Standing on your feet for hours with no break & no food, working the whole time, but of course I love it. The last picture is my favorite :)
