Makeup for Engagement Photos

So you guys by now know my friend Lesly since I mention her in almost every other blog post. Today (Thursday September 29, 2011) was her engagement photos. I did a trial with her a while back and have a blog post about it, but she decided she wanted to changed up her makeup for the wedding, so we tried a different makeup look for her engagement photos.

We went for a soft brown smokey eye and nude pink lips and I really like the look on her. We used the same Dinair airbrush foundation, but using my new Iwata compressor.

All photos are taken my me at Morikami Gardens in Delray, Florida. It is a beautiful Japenese Garden.

Her fiance is Giancarlo, such a funny guy and you can tell how good he is to her.

New Images for Portfolio

editorial photo shoot

If you remember the behind the scenes photos I posted of a photo shoot I had at a haunted house (all behind the scenes pics are up now), well these are the edited photos! I was really proud of this shoot because I did makeup AND hair. If you remember I have been practicing hair to do so when needed for a shoot.

Photographer: Christian Michael Melvin
Model: Gabriella Wilhelmina Models Miami
Stylist: Valerie Duardo
Hair & Makeup: Jessica Rivera

What's really cool is that one of the images is on the homepage of the famous C. Madeleine's!

Behind the Scenes: Barbie Shoot!

Sunday, September 25, 2011 is when this shoot took place.

I love taking photos of all of kits during all the work. Looks so artsy to me =)

Some of the amazing props and jewelry for the shoot.

Just me foolin' around.

Lesly working on hair.

This was the first look. Oh and this is Amanda with Wilhemina. Her boyfriend Alex was there to help with the shoot and it's so cute seeing a high school couple, so young and in love. I created this pink cream shadow with the Make Up For Ever Flash Palette, went over it with a pink yaby shadow, "almost black" eyeshadow by yaby in the crease, and Buxom's leatherette gel liner.

This is the second look which is my FAVORITE!!!! I love how the eyes came out, it looked like a sunset on her eyes. I litterally just went over the previous eye look with the gold in the Make Up For Ever's Flash Palette, and an orange yaby shadow towards the end.

The photographer was the ever so cute Christian Michael Melvin who I love working with, and stylist Valerie Duardo who has an amazing eye for fashion styling. We had a call time of 6:30am!!! Which is no biggy for us, but it's fun to tell people because they get all shocked. We had no sun because of course, typical Miami weather got in the way, so we had to wait 2 hours for Valerie to pick up a light at her house, but we still finished all the looks early.

This is my favorite shoot to date. I loved doing different makeup. I always do "clean makeup" and I got to get fun with the makeup.
After this we had to do hair and makeup on a bride, in which we went to the wrong hotel and met Chris Tucker lol. That will be in another blog post.

I changed FOUNDATIONS in my kit!

So if you've seen my 3 part videos on what's in my kit, you know I use Eve Pearl's cream foundations and concealers. While I love love love Eve Pearl, it's extremely pricey. I would only replace my concealers or foundations when there was a sale. But that was getting inconvenient because I had to make do while missing colors. Her foundations range from $50-$54 and only come with 2-3 colors. Recently I made a purchase of 3 foundations from Eve Pearl on the Naimie's website and with my pro discount it was around $100. A few days went by and I decided to check up on the status of my order and for some reason it was cancelled. It was a sign, or at least I took it as one. I decided to research professional foundation kits, like cinema secrets, RCMA, Graftobian, etc. Famous Makeup Artist James Kevin Bennett recommends Mehron's Célèbre Pro HD foundations in his website: www.inmykit.com . The packaging and size of foundations appealed to me. They come in a large mehron case, or I can just put each color in a zuca bag. They have clear tops to see the color, unlike some of Eve Pearl's cases. Best part is that I paid $169 for 20 different colors with my pro discount at Camera Ready Cosmetics. I'm sad to say goodbye to my Eve Pearl products but this is just more affordable. Plus, I thought the Eve Pearl concealers were too drying under the eyes. But I will always keep her salmon concealer trio in my kit.

I'm excited to have new concealers (MUFE HD Concealers) and foundations in my kit. I try to upgrade my kit whenever I can afford to so that it's my dream kit! I bought this Mehron palette at Camera Ready Cosmetics, I love that online store and the service is great. Best part, they have a pro discount!

make up for ever lip line perfector

Oh and my Make Up For Ever Lip Line Perfector finally came in the mail! Excited to try that out tomorrow at a bridal trial I'm having.

real techniques brushes

And I finally got the last pack of Real Techniques brushes! Although, I think I'm missing one more brush from this line that I want, but I'm satisfied, I have most of them because well, I'm addicted. I really do love their brushes.

So have you guys tried any of these products?

Behind the Scenes: Zemen Clothing Shoot

Today I was the makeup artist for a photo shoot for Zemen's Clothing line. It is modern Ethiopian clothes with designer jewelry by Charles Albert. I had two models to work on for this shoot. The first model is below in the orange. This photo was taken with the photographers Blackberry. The photographer was Shamayim, who I have been wanting to work with for a long time because his work is amazing. The clothing line is Rahel Bekele's, the stylist was Leah Armour, and the hair stylist was Tammica Simone.

This was the second model, Kelly who is was such a sweetheart.

Here is my new set bag that I got for $4 at Micheal's! It comes in handy since I do a lot of outdoor shoots. I might buy a bigger one eventually.

Here is Shamayim and the model at work. It was difficult because we kept losing the sun.

Soon after this the clouds took over and we crammed 7 people in one car to drive around Miami searching for light. It was an adventure trying to dodge a cop so we wouldn't get a ticket for having too many people in a car lol.

We came back to the hotel and I did the last makeup look on her and couldn't stay for the actual shoot for it. I love this look on her, it's very high fashion. This is her with the photographer.

This was the horrible drive home. Hurricane season is the worst!

And then I went to see Elmo Live with my baby! It was such a cute and fun show!

HAUL: Make Up For Ever & Real Techniques

So I have already used these concealers on many clients and photo shoots and I absolutely LOVE it, and LOVE applying it with my Real Techniques blending brush (below). Of course I knew I would love them since it's my personal holy grail concealer.

Real Techniques brushes are now the first brushes I grab.

A light, tan, dark loose matte powder by Make Up For Ever that are awesome. I used it on myself and it's kept me matte looking. I've been using them in my kit and they work great.

I have to say, this comes in handy since I have no matte lipsticks and I need a matte lip. I used it on a shoot and it works great.

I also bought Make Up For Ever's Lip Line Perfector but they forgot to mail it to me so it is on it's way now. I bought all of the make up for ever items at the Pro Road Show for 40% off so this was a steal!
