Sarah @ NEXT (jewelry shoot)

If you remember a while back I posted behind the scenes photos of a nude shoot I did that was mainly a jewelry shoot. Well here are some of the final images.

Because the rest are nude shots, I will not post them here, but if you'd like to see the rest of the shoot, you can go to my portfolio

Iti @ MC2 (behind the scenes)

I have worked with Iti @ MC2 before; in fact, she's in one of my posts not too far back about MC2. Today, I shot with her again for an editorial. It was a bit hectic because the stylist never got back to the photographer so EXTREMELY last minute, we got stylist Waina to help out, and funny thing, it turned out AMAZING!

The two above were just beauty shots, and I decided to give her green eyelids (Inglot pigment) and berry crushed lips. And for her hair, I wanted soft curls, parted to the side. Also, if you notice in the previous post with her, she has darker eyebrows. For this shoot, I lightened her brows.

How awesome is Kevin's pink backdrop?
Waina who saved the day last minute.
 Loving it so far!!!

I kept the eyes the same the entire shoot, but changed the lips for every outfit, and added different blushes later on.

Chelsea @ FORD NY

Here was a behind the scenes shot I took. At first we wanted to add this grandiose dog for a certain feel, but then the photographer decided it was too much work to keep the dog still hehe. Here are the final images.

Sons of Anarchy Makeup Team

If you watched Tuesday night’s episode “Dorylus,” then I’m sure your skin was crawling when you saw the scene with the Russian and the red ants. Mine still is. We hired a bug wrangler to ‘wrangle’ the bugs around the actor. (No bugs were actually harmed in the making of this scene). I talked to our makeup artists who create all the SOA makeup magic on how they did it. These are the ladies behind the countless SOA bullet wounds, bruises, and other special effects makeup on the show. Here’s what they said:

Not only do these ladies make our cast look great on screen, but also help them maintain their camera ready face off screen. Michelle owns the celeb favorite skincare line, Vivd MD Skincare:http://vividmdskincare.com/ and is pretty popular with the SOA cast. Rumor has it, the boys have been known to get facials in the makeup trailer (photos not permitted!)

This is my favorite show so I love seeing anything behind the scenes pertaining to it, especially makeup stuff! So different from working in tv because you deal with prosthetics which is a whole nothing level of makeup.

Review: MAC Paint Pots

MAC Paint Pots I own:

Blackground: A dark gray/black paint pot with slight silver/blue glitter
I use this for dark night looks and smokey eyes.

Painterly: A light skinned flesh tone color.
I used this as eye shadow for the no makeup makeup look or as a primer for bright eyeshadow colors.

Rubenesque: My number one requested bridal look is gold & brown eye looks, so I use rubenesque as my gold primer to really make the gold shadow pop.

Bare Study: This is almost a clear, pearl shimmer cream shadow. It doesn't cover your eye skin color completely but it's a great base to increase the shimmer on another shadow used on top.

Groundwork: I use this the same way I use painterly, but on darker skin tones; a flesh tone primer for natural makeup. Or for a brown smokey eye.

Ever since I started using MAC's paint pots, I stopped using all other eye primers. The one I used before was Urban Decay's primer potion. UDPP worked but it's clear, so it doesn't cover discoloration on the eyes or veins.

I have EXTREMELY oily eyelids and MAC's paint pots don't crease and lasts ALL night long. And I love that they come in so many different colors. To keep it sanitary, I use a spatula to dig some out for each client. And a little goes a LONG way. When I use it on myself I just use my fingers. They are blendable, but you have to start blending right after placement because the product dries fast and makes it harder to blend. Another neat way of using these is to use the flesh colored ones as a primer to cover a tattoo.

Now, if you keep these open for long periods of time, they will dry out, but that goes for most cream products, so it's just safe to say, close your cream products as soon as you are done using them. I have heard some people with very dry eyelids say that paint pots highlight the dry flakes, so remember to moisturize your eyes with eye cream before using a paint pot.

One way to help DRY skin

Just for model Sam Marie who was asking me what to do about extremely dry skin.

For whatever reason you may have dry skin, it is definitely something you want to take care of because dry skin causes a faster result of wrinkles. Yes, using a moisturizer is good, but sometimes a regular moisturizer just isn't enough. Using a sunscreen can be what you need because they are more emollient and greasy.

I recommend buying a sunscreen that contains titanium oxides (protects skin from UVB and UVA radiation) and microfine zinc (anti-irritant) since UVA rays are responsible for dryness and wrinkles. Using a sunscreen of 30 will filter over 95% of sun rays.

Try putting A LOT of sunscreen before going to bed so that your skin can revel in all that moisture all night, and you don't have to worry about looking greasy in front of everyone! Then, use a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil in the morning. Stay away from oil absorbing cleansers or primers. Then use a bit of sunscreen throughout the day to continue to give moisture to your skin.

Today I did hair and makeup on a couple's editorial shoot. I am extremely excited to see these photos. I think they are going to be amazing and the models worked really well together. I brought inspiration photos and I thought Falco's house would be perfect for the setting. It's about a couple who is going out for the night. I love working with Falco, and I've worked with Adam before who is with NEXT. Sam Marie was our femme fatale! =)  I had a great time.

I really do want to post more posts about actual makeup, like reviews and all that, I've just been extremely busy which is a blessing but hopefully with the holidays things will slow down in a good way.

Behind the Scenes Jewelry Shoot

This was the first look, dark lips and dark eyes. I get excited when I get to do something other than clean makeup. I used MACs bare study paint pot as a base. Then I used a purple & gold pigment all over the eye & a burgundy eye shadow in the crease.

This was the second look which was just got darker. I just added to the makeup. I darkened the crease with two different shades of gray by inglot in the crease and black lipstick.

This is the Falco stance. Falco is amazing at what he does and these photos are going to look amazing. Ammy Garcia styled the shoot.
