Behind the Scenes: Beauty Color Story

Here are some behind the scenes photos of my Color Beauty Story with photographer Chad Finley and NEXT model Gabriel.

And here is what inspired it all. This palette sparked me to want to do a look for each color. I did use other products besides this palette, but they were the base for every look. For every color I used NYX's pencil in Milk as a base. Then I would apply the sugarpill color. The orange I left alone. For the yellow, I used another yellow eyeshadow by Yaby to brighten the yellow. For the red, I used a red blush by LaFemme to darken the red. The purple was left alone as well but I added gloss on top.

Gabriel is only fourteen but is the cutest thing and has amazing eyes. Her mom was there during the shoot and was a sweetheart. And of course, Chad is so awesome, so chill, can't say enough good things about him.

I'm super excited to see how these will come out!

MAC's Hit the Pavement Event

How awesome are all of these models covered in body paint!? I really enjoyed the makeup art.

The red guy was a bit scary lol

These two with the birds were my favorite.

They were still finishing the man on the toilet when I arrived.

My +1 Dre! That's my girl! We had a fun time eating and catching up. We went to the booths for food so many times lol

The Cielo Blue Girls! haha All three of us are makeup & hair artists in the same agency. Josie, me, & Lesly! Our agent Sarah showed up later so it was nice catching up with her too.

This photo was taken by Roselaine, a MAC Mua.

It was a great event by MAC and I had a lot of fun. You have acquaintances/friends who you know you like but don't see often enough, so seeing those people today was such a treat.

Here is Jay, owner of HD Agency with one of the models.

On Saturday, March 24th, I did makeup on four models for HD Agency located in Atlanta. Lesly did hair so of course, we had a blast working together. And Chad Finley, who recommended me for the job, was the photographer and I just love him. He's the sweetest and is an AMAZING photographer! The look was a clean Victoria's Secret makeup look. So not glamourous but pretty.

Bright Editoral

On the eyes I used a green pigment by Inglot along with Inglot's Duraline to wet it and make it more creamy. On the lips I used different lipsticks, the red being in Make Up For Ever's Flash palette. Then I added MAC's clear glass lipgloss for some. This was a fun shoot and I absolutely love the outcome!

Review: Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl

benefit girl meets pearl highlighter

If you don't know by now, my go to highlighters are MAC's cream color bases. And while I use them A LOT and truly love them, they each have a concentrated color and are cream based, and I was looking for an almost colorless highlight that was liquid based. Why, you ask? Because I wanted a more natural highlight that was more about catching the light, then adding some obvious colored highlight.

Then I found it, Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl. I had tried it in Sephora many times before and never bought it because I wasn't used to such sheer highlighters. But the more work I did, the more I realized a need for a highlighter like it. When you swatch it, you can definitely see there is a small amount of pearl/gold pigmentation and tiny shimmer reflex. But once applied on the skin, it is pretty transparent but leaves a sheen to the skin.

It is pricey, can't deny that. It is $30 for .4oz but it's worth it for my kit. I love this product wholeheartedly.

And here is some of my work where I used Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl. Doesn't is catch the light AMAZINGLY!!!???

Has anyone tried this highlighter? What do you think?

BATTLE of the EYELINERS!

LEFT to RIGHT:
L'Oreal extreme intense eyeliner in Black
Kat Vond D eyeliner in Puro Amor Black
Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero
MAC eyeliner in Smolder

Unfortunately I forgot to add my black eyeliner by Cover Girl, so I will review that one first.

Cover Girl's eyeliner does not need to be sharpened because you just twist the bottom and more product pops up when you are running low. It is not an amazing eyeliner, but it isn't horrible. It takes a bit of going back and forth on your waterline for the black color to really show up, and even then it's not the darkest black. But this is good to get the job done decently at a good price. If you wanted it blacker, I suggest using black shadow over it. It's pretty decent to use on the eyelid but again the color isn't so black, it's more like a dark gray to me.

L'Oreal's eyeliner is very dry as you can tell by the swatch above. Me no like-y lol

Kat Von D's eyeliner blew me out of the water. It is SOOOOO creamy!!! I could not believe how it glided on top of an eyelid when i want to rim the eye or make a cat eyeliner. I only use this one now for on top of the eyes. On the waterline is great but not the best.

Urban Decay's eyeliner I was not impressed with at all. I have to go back and forth on my waterline for the color to show up and I don't believe it lasts 24 hours at all.

MAC's eyeliner is hands down the best I've used on waterlines. The color intensity is definitely there and immediately shows. You don't have to keep going back and forth to get color. As for using it on eyelids, it is drier than Kat Von D's eyeliner and tugs a bit so I don't get as clean a line as I do with Kat Von D's eyeliner.

Kid's Circus Shoot: behind the scenes

This past weekend I had an editorial photo shoot that was circus themed and contained only kids!!! Kids are cute and I love them, but put them under working conditions, and let's just say it wouldn't be my first pick to do makeup for children lol

Here was our Strong Man! I drew fake chest hair on him, hahaha!

Here was a beautiful ballerina

Another performer, loved that diamond. I put glitter on it which you can't see so much on here but it looked amazing.

Here was another performer that had flower inspired makeup.

Here is the set with some of the models, don't they look cute in those outfits!?

This seemed very 80s to me right?

She is an actual circus performer!

Our female nutcracker!

She was so adorable and was so animated!

This was a 2 day shoot so the second day I did this fun diamond look on twins.

The last day was for the clowns. This boy was SOOOOOO freakin adorable I wanted to scream! And that hair!!!!!
